Born in 1964, CHEON Myeong-gwan is a novelist who debuted in a film production company, where he notably penned the screenplay for <The Great Chef> (1999). However, people around him convinced him that there was no money in this field, and so CHEON set sights on writing novels. After a first short story, <Frank and Me>, published in 2003, he gained critical and commercial acclaim with his award-winning novel <Whale> (2004). Meanwhile, he never really stopped writing screenplays, and one of his scripts was used to make <The Man Next Door> (2009). His third novel, <Modern Family> has also been a bestseller since its publication in 2010 and was adapted only three years later in a film, <Boomerang Family> (2013). After completing his 2-part novel <My Uncle, Bruce Lee> (2012), which is also getting a film adaptation, CHEON is currently preparing his directing debut with <Hot Blood> (2019), based on one of his own script.
