KANG Seung-yong is a veteran art director who has worked on major history movies such as The Last Witness, YMCA Baseball Team, King and the Clown, Once Upon a Time in a Battlefield, and Silmido, with Korean-style colors. His best works are Sunny(2008), King and the Clown(2005), and The President's Barber(2004), which required extraordinary sets that revealed the atmosphere of each movies background. His sets of foreign lands or the past may not be the most accurate, but he is known to make sets that fit into the storyline. He started making set and props in 1993 with The Terrorist, and his works are said to give actors live tension. In the 2010 history film Blades of Blood Cloud, he expressed the revolt in the 16th century Chosun with art work that employed the concept of Korean black-and-white painting.
