Jay Kim, XR Curator of Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), Invited to France ‘Focus Program’
Representing Korea, He Seeks to Develop New media with VR Experts around the World
Curator Jay Kim planned the VR exhibition ‘DIGITAL NOVEMBER,’ which was co-held with the French Embassy in Korea, and produced Missing Pictures, a joint VR series project between Korea and France. Curator Jay Kim, who has continuously contributed to collaborations and developments of VR content between Korea and France, has been invited to the ‘Focus Program’ as a representative of Korea this year and will explore ways to develop new media including XR with 25 experts from around the world.
‘Focus Program’ is a specialized exchange program in the new media sector hosted by the Institut Français. The program covers various themes, including Immersive Virtual Reality, media art, digital creation, etc. It aims to encourage industrial cooperation in the new media sector between each country.
‘Focus Program’ 2022 will be held in Paris, France, for 6 days from June 7 to 12. Under the theme of Immersive Experiences, it will focus on virtual reality, augmented reality, and immersive facilities this year. 26 VR experts from around the world, consisting of festival directors, programmers, producers, and curators, will visit cultural and artistic spaces such as Centquatre, Le Grand Palais, La Gaité Lyrique, and Collège des Bernardins in Paris to experience and discuss VR & AR reality in France.
