Global Cineastes, Appointed Juries for the 23rd Jeonju International Film Festival

Composed of Film Experts of Various Nationalities from South America, North America, Europe, Asia, etc.

 

 

 

The 23rd Jeonju IFF appointed 14 jury members for the NETPAC Award and the competition sections, consisting of leading domestic and foreign cineastes, including directors, actors, and programmers of various nationalities.

 

First, the judges of the International Competition section are actor Park Haseon, the host of the opening ceremony last year and the main character of FIRST CHILD (2021), which entered the Korean Competition in 2021, Andrei Tanasescu, a programmer of Vilnius International Film Festival and a jury of ‘Venice Days’ at the Venice Film Festival, Joo Jinsook, the ex-director of Korean Film Archive, Director CHANG of Canola, and Clarisa Navas, the most promising director in Latin America. They will conduct a review of the first or second feature films of new directors around the world.

 

The juries for Korean Competition are Roberto Cueto, a programmer of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, Lili Hinstin, the chairman of the Villa Medici Film Festival, and Jenna Ku, a Korean filmmaker and CEO of Vol Media.

 

The juries for the Competition for Shorts are Actor Gong Seungyeon, the winner of Best Actress at the Korean Competition of the 22nd Jeonju International Film Festival for Aloners, Director Ben Russell, who represents the U.S. experimental film industry, and Director Jeong Gayoung, who directed Nothing Serious. In addition, the juries for the NETPAC Award, which will be presented by the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC), are Professor Seo Koksuk at Cheongju University, Ed Lejano, the vice-chairman of NETPAC and Festival Director of QCinema International Film Festival, and Oh Youngsuk, an HK research professor at the Institute for East Asian Studies at SungKongHoe University.

 

The organization committee of Jeonju IFF added, Jeonju International Film Festival this year has formed the jury members with expertise in various nationalities, including South America, North America, Europe, and Asia, and devoted to the screening. As we announced going back to normal for offline events for the first time since the Pandemic, all overseas guests will be invited for the first time in three years, and the juries will visit Jeonju during the festival to conduct the offline screenings fully.
