JUNG Ji-yeon to Make Commercial Debut with Psychological Thriller
CHUN Woo-hee and LEE Hye-young will join forces for the upcoming psychological thriller Anchor (translated title). The film will mark the commercial debut of director JUNG Ji-yeon and will be produced by About Film, the production company behind Extreme Job, which welcomed over 16 million viewers earlier this year to become the second most successful Korean film of all time.
After getting her big break as the star of the critically acclaimed festival hit HAN Gong-ju (2013), CHUN Woo-hee quickly ascended to major commercial roles. These have include NA Hong-jin’s THE WAILING (2016) and this year’s Berlinale-screened Idol, for which she reunited with HAN Gong-ju director LEE Su-jin.
The film will be a big screen comeback for veteran actress LEE Hye-young, whose last major film was The Devil’s Game in 2008. However she did have a special appearance in the indie omnibus I Have a Date with Spring last year.
Although little is known yet about its plot, Anchor is drawing attention for its casting and the fact that it is the latest in a line of local thrillers to be led by two female co-stars. Other upcoming works include Diva with SHIN Min-a and LEE Yoo-young and Call with JUN Jong-seo and PARK Shin-hye.
