Don LEE to Reprise Role in American Update of Cannes-Selected Korean Thriller

Ahead of its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival later this month, the upcoming Korean thriller The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil has already been picked up for an American remake. Production company BA Entertainment announced that Sylvester STALLONE’s company Balboa Productions has come on board to produce the Hollywood redo, which will feature Don LEE (aka MA Dong-seok) reprising his role as the gangster of the title.

LEE stars as a gang boss who becomes the only surviving victim of a vicious serial killer (KIM Sung-kyu). Soon, the criminal boss must team up with a gangster-hating detective (GIM Mu-yeol) to put a stop to the killings.

The film, the second by MAN OF WILL (2017) director LEE Won-tae, will debut internationally in the ‘Midnight Screenings’ section of the Cannes Film Festival, following its domestic theatrical debut on May 15.

LEE is quickly turning into a global force in the cinema world. After a decade of roles in the Korean film industry, he came to the attention of international viewers in the 2016 hit TRAIN TO BUSAN. It was recently reported that LEE has been cast in the upcoming Marvel Phase 4 project The Eternals.

Stallone will produce the update alongside Braden AFTERGOOD, known for the US thriller Wind River, BA Entertainment CEO JANG Won-seokDon LEE and Chris S. LEE, the CEO of Don LEE’s American management company B&C Group.
