Lotte Scores Global Sales for Drama with JUNG Woo-sung and KIM Hyang-gi

According to distributor Lotte Entertainment, the legal drama Innocent Witness has sold distribution rights to nine overseas territories. From Punch (2011) director LEE Han, the film stars JUNG Woo-sung and KIM Hyang-gi.

Lotte revealed that among the countries where the film will be made available are Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam. Innocent Witness is also slated to screen at the Hong Kong International Film Festival later this month, which is staging a special program to commemorate the centenary of Korean film this year.

In the film, JUNG Woo-sung portrays a lawyer who takes on a difficult case surrounding the mysterious death of a pensioner. The only witness to what may have transpired is an autistic teenager, played by KIM Hyang-gi, who the lawyer carefully tries to persuade to take the stand.

A veteran star of over 20 years, JUNG is known for Beat (1997), The Good, The Bad, And The Weird (2008), Cold Eyes (2013) and more recently Steel Rain (2017). Meanwhile, KIM Hyang-gi is a young star whose popularity has exploded after appearing in the main cast of both Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds (2017) and Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days (2018).

After scoring a box office hit in 2011 with Punch, Director LEE went on to make the critically acclaimed drama Thread of Lies (2014). Innocent Witness has proven to be another success for the director, having accumulated over 2.3 million admissions (USD 16.8 million) to date.
