THE TROUBLED TROUBADOUR and THE REALM OF DEEPEST KNOWING in Park City

A pair of Korean shorts have made the cut for next year’s Slamdance Film Festival which will be held at the same time as the Sundance Film Festival in January. The Troubled Troubadour, from directors Forest Ian Etsler and Sébastien Simon, and KIM Seung-hee’s The Realm of Deepest Knowing will both screen in Park City. Both films mark returning Slamdance invitations for their directors.

Having its North American premiere at the festival, The Troubled Troubadour follows an embittered old musician and his stoic companion as they journey on a wheeled canoe in Southern coast of Korea. The film, which stars KASUGA Hachi Hirofumi, TETSU Kono, LEE Hwajin and KANG Saneh, has screened at several festivals around the world and in Korea, such as the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival, the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival and the Seoul Independent Film Festival. Etsler and Simon were invited to Slamdance as well earlier this year with their short One-Minded.

KIM’s animation The Realm of Deepest Knowing has also had a long festival run, having won the CINECUBE Award from the Asiana International Short Film Festival this year and having screened at the Leeds International Film Festival and the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) among many others. Previously, KIM participated at Slamdance with Mirror in Mind last year.

The Slamdance Film Festival will take place from January 19th to 25th.
