LEE Yoo-young Vehicle Competes in Goa

Korean thriller Marionette is set to have its world premiere at the International Film Festival of India, Goa (IFFI) this month. From first time feature helmer LEE Han-wook, the film stars actress LEE Yoo-young and focuses on the problem of underage teenage victims of sex abuse in Korean schools.

LEE features as a high school teacher who begins to receive messages from a mysterious man who goes only by ‘Master’ who reminds her of an incident from her past. The situation becomes more serious when a student of hers becomes the victim of assault.

After gaining notice for her turn in the indie drama Late Spring (2014), LEE Yoo-young quickly found fame in the commercial arena in 2015, starring in MIN Kyu-dong’s The Treacherous and Fatal Intuition. Later that year she gained strong notices when she appeared alongside the late KIM Joo-hyuk in Hong Sangsoo’s Yourself and Yours. She will also appear alongside Don LEE (aka MA Dong-seok) in Wonderful Ghost (Korean title), due out next February, and is currently shooting director MIN’s comfort woman trial drama Her Story (Korean title).

Starring alongside LEE is KIM Hee-won, who recently appeared in Missing and The Merciless. Director LEE previously helmed the mid-length film Hide N Seek in 2012, which screened at the Montreal World Film Festival and the Boston International Film Festival.

No domestic release date has been set for Marionette.
