 SONG Kang-ho Leads New WON Shin-yun Action-Thriller

Top actors RYU Seung-ryong and JUNG Woo have joined SONG Kang-ho in the upcoming action-thriller Fifth Column. Handling the directing reigns will be veteran WON Shin-yun.

SONG will play KANG Jong-deok, a detective at his last week on the job at the Ministry of Defense but still struggling to clear one last case. RYU is on board as HYUN Joon-hee, a power player in the middle of a conspiracy while JUNG will play SONG’s partner YOON Joong-hyun.

Ahead of Fifth Column, SONG is currently shooting the Gwangju Massacre drama Taxi Driver for director JANG Hun with German star Thomas Krestchmann. But first for the Korean star is KIM Jee-woon’s Colonial Era action-thriller The Age of Shadows which opens in September and will bow at the Venice International Film Festival in a few weeks before screening at the Toronto International Film Festival.

RYU, star of Miracle in Cell No. 7 (2013) and The Target (2014), will next appear in the thriller Night of 7 Years. Last seen in The Himalayas (2015), JUNG recently began shooting the thriller Retrial.

Director WON, who previously made the thrillers A Bloody Aria (2006) and The Suspect (2013), recently completed the serial killer drama Memories of a Murderer starring SUL Kyung-gu.

Fifth Column, which is being distributed by Showbox, will begin production later this year.
