According to CJ Entertainment, shooting came to an end in Seoul for the upcoming thriller Cooperation on July 14th. Featuring superstar Hyun-bin, the film is the latest project from blockbuster production house JK Film and features director KIM Sung-hoon at the helm. Shooting lasted four months.

In the story, Hyun-bin plays a North Korean detective who is sent over to South Korea to catch the boss of a North Korean refugee crime organization, who is played by KIM Joo-hyuk. South of the border, he teams up with YOO Hae-jin’s South Korean detective for a historic moment of cooperation. The film also features popular K-pop star Yoon-a of Girls’ Generation.

Hyun-bin’s last film was the hit period thriller The Fatal Encounter (2014), prior to which he completed his military service. He will next appear in the con artist thriller Kkun (Korean title) alongside YOO Ji-tae, which is expected to begin production soon.

JK Film, the outfit of producer and director JK YOUN, has been responsible for a string of big-budget hits, including the disaster film Haeundae (2009), the epic melodrama Ode to My Father (2014) and last winter’s expedition drama The Himalayas. Director KIM debuted in 2013 with the musical drama A Wonderful Moment.

CJ Entertainment expects to release the film at the end of the year.
