OFFICE, TRAP Snag Sales at EFM

Genre Titles Dominate 9ers Slate in Berlin
 
 
Korean sales outfit 9ers Entertainment has locked a number of deals for its genre titles Office and Trap, which are part of its lineup at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin.
 
HONG Won-chan’s debut film, Office premiered in the midnight lineup of the Cannes Film Festival last year and stars KO Asung, PARK Sung-woong and BAE Sung-woo. 9ers has confirmed sales for China (Lemon Tree), Japan (Nikkatsu), Hong Kong (Edko Films), Thailand (Mono Film) and the Philippines (Viva Communications).
 
From veteran genre director BONG Man-dae, the erotic thriller Trap, with YU Ha-june and KIM Jung-gon, bowed at the Jeonju International Film Festival last year. The film recently locked deals for Germany and Austria (Donau Films), Japan (Klockworx), Hong Kong and Macau (Sundream), Taiwan (Moviecloud) and the Philippines (Viva Communications).
 
 
9ers has also been busy confirming festival appearances for its other titles. KIM Sang-chan’s Karaoke Crazies will premiere next month at the SXSW Film Festival, SON Young-ho’s The Deal will head to the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, following its festival premiere at the Shanghai International Film Festival last year, and, as previously announced in December, KIM Hwi’s The Chosen: Forbidden Cave and KWON Hyung-jin’s Deep Trap will screen at the Fantasporto - Oporto International Film Festival later this month.
 
Other 9ers Entertainment titles drawing attention at EFM include the debut film Eclipse, a coming-of-age drama from CHUNG Hee-sung which will open on Korean screens on March 24th and is getting noticed by international film festival programmers, HA Won-jun’s action film Black Mountain Island which has drawn people’s interest owing to the appearance of Korean action choreography legend JUNG Doo-hong, and the drama The Great Actor, which features popular character actor OH Dal-su in his first leading role. The Great Actor will mark the debut of SEOK Min-u, who has worked as an assistant director on PARK Chan-wook and KIM Jee-woon films such as Thirst (2009) and I Saw The Devil (2010), and hit screens next month.
 
Rounding out 9ers' EFM lineup is the romantic comedy Making Family with KIM Ha-neul, animated title Mini Force : New Heroes Rise, drama-thriller Trick (working title) with LEE Jung-jin and KANG Ye-won, drama Hiya, featuring LEE Ho-won of K-pop group INFINITE, and the comedy Olle: Trail to Reboot (working title), starring SHIN Ha-kyun and PARK Hee-soon.
