Korean films are having a strong showing at various international film festivals. Among them, filmmaker JUNG Ji-yeon’s The Boy and KIM Baik’s The Incredible Shrinking Man have been invited to the 36th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. The Boy, directed by JUNG Ji-yeon, is a fantasy melodrama dealing with the story of a boy who secretly observes a middle-aged man during the subway morning rush hour, while KIM Baik’s debut film The Incredible Shrinking Man tells of a man who witnesses his wife committing adultery after discreetly quitting his job.

As one of the three major short film festivals, along with the Tampere International Short Film Festival and the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival opens on January 31st and runs until February 8th.

PARK Jae-in’s animation short Piece, Peace has also been invited to the 30th Sundance Film Festival. Piece, Peace is a black comedy about a man sharing a dining table with a group of six who experiences a dangerous dream. This directorial debut had its world premiere at the 12th Mise-en-Scéne Short Film Festival in Seoul. The Sundance Film Festival will run over January 16-26th next year.
