2 Short Films, PIECE OF PAPER and ESCAPE produced
ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator: FLY (FLY Project) co-hosted by the
Busan Film Commission, the Asian Film Commissions Network and the Philippines Film Development Committee completed its run between November 12th and 25th and held its graduation ceremony. The FLY Project aimed to hunt people with filmmaking talent from Korea and 10 ASEAN member nations and also to establish infrastructure for manpower in film production.
22 students picked from 10 ASEAN member nations (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) and Korea worked on pre-production online and started actual schedule after arriving in Davao on November 12th. They were separated into two teams of 11 members.
Team A led by
LEE Moo-young, a film director, and SONG Jin-yeol of the IM Kwon-taek Film and Arts College of Dongseo University made
Piece of Paper and Team B led by Adolfo Bronaga Alix Jr., a Filipino director who graduated from AFA of the
Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), and the director of photography who works with him, made
Escape. The films screened at the graduation preview on November 25th.
The FLY Project was only for 14 days, but it helped young talents from Korea and ASEAN countries share their passion and showed the power of film as a mutual language. The Busan Film Commission is planning to make the FLY Project long-term.
