Since 2021, the 2030 Youth Film Festival is dedicated to young individuals aged between 20 and 35 aspiring to become film directors but lacking experience in film production. This festival provides modest production funds (2 million won), support for post-production, and mentoring from currently active film directors to help these young individuals create their own films. The results of this program are presented during the festival.
In the spring of 2020, the Youth Cultural Cooperative Association initiated the program Moonlight Cinema to convey dreams and hope to young people through movies amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This program held twice a month and featuring film screenings, film analysis, and psychological counseling through films, offered the opportunity for young people to connect with movies and later became the foundation for the creation of the 2030 Youth Film Festival.
Now in its third year, the festival has introduced a documentary category and expanded the number of supported projects to capture a broader range of stories from young filmmakers. With the goal of enabling young individuals to share their own stories through film and step onto the world stage, the 2030 Youth Film Festival aims to continue supporting young people facing challenges in realizing their dreams due to their circumstances.
